Acti-Stem Therapy for Dogs: Revolutionary Stem Cell Treatment for Pain Relief and Healing

At Animal Surgical Center we are endlessly committed to advancing our education, expertise, and technology to be able to continue providing the most excellent and accessible pet care possible. We are constantly learning so we can be the best, most qualified team to aid your pet in their healing journey. That is why we are happy to announce that we now offer in-house same day stem cell therapy.

Through this form of regenerative medicine, known as Acti-Stem Therapy, pets can receive life-changing treatment that relieves pain and promotes healing from conditions such as orthopedic disease, soft tissue injuries and spinal cord trauma. Your pet could be a treatment away from a remarkably improved quality of life.

What is Acti-Stem Therapy?

Acti-Stem Therapy utilizes mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs), or stromal vascular fraction (SVF) cells to address and regenerate damaged bone and joint tissues. By targeting the underlying issues, this therapy aims to replace damaged tissues with new, healthy ones. As a natural, cost-effective, and minimally invasive treatment, Acti-Stem Therapy offers a promising solution to enhance your pet’s health and overall well-being.

How does Acti-Stem Therapy work?

Act-istem Therapy, performed by a trained team of licensed veterinary technicians, is safe and has a low-complication rate. The stem cell derives from the animal’s own abdominal fat and is used to target damaged tissue and replace it with restorative tissue. This natural alternative to non-steroidal anti-inflammatories and steroids allows pets to return home on the same day as the procedure. Additionally, stem cells can be banked for potential future treatments.

Kayne Mejia, 3-Year-Old Male American Bully

Case Study 1: Kayne Mejia, 3-Year-Old Male American Bully

Kayne lost mobility in his hind legs due to a traumatic injury. After initial stabilization and an MRI at an emergency hospital revealed a severe spinal injury with significant neurological deficits, Kayne’s family began home physical therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy and regular walks showed some improvement, but he still required wheelchair assistance.

Ten months after the injury, with ongoing neurological impairment despite extensive physical therapy, stem cell therapy was recommended. Dr. Infernuso used Kayne’s own stem cells, harvested from his fat tissue, to address his spinal dysfunction. The stem cells were injected directly into his spinal cord and administered intravenously via a constant rate infusion (CRI). Additional cells were banked for future use.

Since his treatment, Kayne has regained strength and seen significant improvement in his neurological condition. He now enjoys daily walks with his family and his sister, Layla. Watch this reel to see his story: Meet Kayne.

Case Study 2: Luna Broxmeyer, 4-Year-Old Female Pitbull Mix

Luna suffered a partial cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear and a small meniscus tear in her left knee, a common injury in active dogs. She underwent a Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) to correct the injury. Simultaneously, stem cells were harvested from her abdominal fat.

Luna’s recovery has been smooth, with her incision healing well and no infections reported. She is gradually regaining trust in her leg and benefiting from the combined effects of the corrective surgery and Acti-Stem Therapy.

Her owner, Matthew Broxmeyer, commented, “Our experience with Animal Surgical Center has been exceptional from start to finish. The team has been professional, compassionate, and attentive to Luna’s needs, making us feel confident in the treatment plan.”

Case Study 3 – Flea Broxmeyer, 15-Year-Old Male Miniature Pinscher Mix

Flea presented for stem cell therapy to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease. He arrived at Animal Surgical Center severely anemic and in end-stage kidney disease. Flea received a blood transfusion to address the anemia and aggressive IV fluids to reduce his toxic kidney values before the stem cell procedure.

Following the therapy, Flea has shown significant improvement in both vision and kidney function. His creatinine and BUN levels have returned to normal ranges. Flea’s owner, Sydney, continues to monitor his renal health and administer subcutaneous fluids nightly to manage his condition.

Sydney remarked, “I am a strong believer in the potential benefits of stem cell therapy for both therapeutic and compassionate use in dogs.”

Conclusion

Acti-Stem Therapy represents a significant advancement in veterinary medicine, offering a promising solution for pets suffering from various orthopedic and soft tissue conditions. By harnessing the regenerative power of stem cells, we can provide a natural, effective, and minimally invasive treatment option that enhances your pet’s quality of life and promotes faster recovery.
