Dr. Kam: Passion for Orthopedic Surgery and Rehabilitation

What inspired you to become a veterinary surgeon?

Dr. Kam’s journey into veterinary surgery began seven years ago when a book he read during his first year of veterinary school deeply influenced his perspective on how he could impact the lives of animals. That inspiration turned into action, leading him to become a practicing surgeon three years ago with a passion for orthopedic and rehabilitation medicine.

Proudest Accomplishments as a Veterinary Surgeon

For Dr. Kam, every surgery is a proud moment, but the true reward comes from seeing his patients recover and watching the joy in their owners’ eyes. His passion for rehabilitation therapy plays a key role in helping pets recover faster, reduce pain, and regain mobility after orthopedic and neurosurgical procedures.

Advancing Veterinary Rehabilitation at ASC

Dr. Kam believes that rehabilitation is just as crucial as surgery for long-term recovery. As a certified rehabilitation specialist, he is working to enhance ASC’s rehabilitation services, ensuring that pets have access to cutting-edge post-operative care, pain management solutions, and alternative treatments for those who may not require surgery.

How ASC Is Leading the Future of Veterinary Medicine

With rapid advancements in veterinary care, ASC continues to push the boundaries of innovation. Dr. Kam envisions bringing total hip replacement procedures and minimally invasive osteosynthesis techniques to ASC in the near future. These advanced surgical approaches would further enhance patient outcomes, minimize recovery times, and expand the treatment options available for pets.

Dr. Jin: A Mission to Heal Through Compassion and Expertise

What led you to veterinary surgery?

Dr. Jin’s path to veterinary surgery was deeply rooted in his upbringing in a Buddhist family, where the principle of non-harm and compassion for all living beings shaped his desire to become a veterinarian. After graduating from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014, he completed years of rigorous surgical training and became a board-certified veterinary surgeon.

Proudest Accomplishments as a Veterinary Surgeon

Among his greatest achievements, mentoring veterinary students, improving surgical outcomes, and obtaining board certification stand out. However, the most fulfilling part of his work is seeing an animal recover and return home to their family, healthier and pain-free.

Advanced Surgical Innovations at ASC

Dr. Jin has played an important role in bringing minimally invasive procedures to ASC, including laparoscopy and arthroscopy, which allow for faster recovery, smaller incisions, and less pain for pets. These techniques are particularly beneficial for elective procedures like laparoscopic spay, setting ASC apart as a leader in progressive veterinary care.

A Vision for the Future

Dr. Jin believes that the future of veterinary medicine will involve a holistic integration of advanced procedures with compassionate care. He is passionate about introducing more regenerative therapies, such as stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatments, to accelerate healing. Additionally, he has helped integrate telemedicine for post-surgical follow-ups, ensuring that pets receive continuity of care with greater convenience for their owners.

The Role of Advanced Technology at ASC

Advancements in Veterinary Medicine: Exploring Innovative Therapies

Veterinary medicine is constantly evolving, with new therapies emerging to enhance healing, reduce inflammation, and accelerate recovery. While Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has been a topic of interest in veterinary rehabilitation, ASC is focusing on other advanced treatments that provide effective recovery solutions for surgical and orthopedic patients. Dr. Kam and the team at Animal Surgical Center remain committed to integrating cutting-edge technologies, such as minimally invasive surgery, regenerative medicine (PRP & stem cell therapy), and comprehensive rehabilitation programs, to improve patient outcomes and provide the highest standard of care.

Beyond Surgery: Supporting the Local Pet Community

Both Dr. Kam and Dr. Jin are committed to giving back to the community. ASC provides affordable care for local rescue groups, ensuring that more animals receive life-saving treatments. They also prioritize pet owner education, helping families understand how to care for their pets before, during, and after surgical procedures.

With their leadership, ASC is not just a surgical center—it’s a trusted resource for pet owners and referring veterinarians looking for expert care.
