Dedication to Animal Welfare Around the Clock

At Animal Surgical Center (ASC) in Oceanside, New York, our commitment transcends the typical 9-5 workday. As dedicated veterinary surgeons, licensed veterinary assistants, and animal welfare advocates, we play a vital role in the rescue community by providing critical care to animals in need. Our unwavering passion for animal welfare extends beyond our professional responsibilities. The impact of our work is profound; each surgery we perform and each animal we save contributes to the broader mission of reducing suffering and promoting animal welfare. By providing advanced surgical care to animals that might otherwise be deemed unadoptable, we increase their chances of finding loving forever homes. While the amount of work involved often goes unnoticed, we wanted to offer a behind-the-scenes look at our dedication and efforts.

Why We Go Above and Beyond

Animals don’t follow a 9-5 schedule, and neither do we. Starting a career in veterinary medicine means committing to around-the-clock dedication to saving animal lives. Our team members volunteer with animal rescues, open their homes to fostering pets, and contribute to charities, all fueled by an unwavering passion for animal welfare. Our surgeons willingly sacrifice personal time and adjust their schedules to accommodate the needs of our rescue partners. It’s not uncommon for our team to be in the operating room late at night or early in the morning, ensuring that every animal receives the care they deserve. This dedication exemplifies our philosophy of going above and beyond, showing that our commitment to animal welfare extends far beyond regular business hours.

Making a Difference in the Rescue Community

ASC is deeply committed to supporting the rescue community in impactful ways. Beyond our clinic walls, we extend discounts and credits exceeding $1 million in 2023 to rescue organizations, enabling them to provide crucial care to more animals. Annually, we perform hundreds of surgeries for rescue animals, alleviating suffering and improving their chances of finding forever homes. Our founder, Dr. Tomas Infernuso, leads by example, volunteering his time monthly at Big Dog Ranch, offering free surgeries to animals in need. Collaborating with over a dozen respected rescue organizations, including Second Chance Rescue and New York Bully Crew, strengthens our collective impact. Whether providing medical care, volunteering, or offering financial support, ASC remains steadfast in our commitment to improving the lives of animals in need.

Save a Life: Free Snip & Fix for Rescue Animals

Earlier this year, ASC proudly organized two ‘Save A Life: Free Snip & Fix for Rescue Animals’ events, highlighting our dedication to alleviating animal suffering. On May 4th alone, six different rescue organizations participated, and over 20 animals were spayed and neutered. By providing these services at no cost, we not only increase the chances of these animals finding loving forever homes but also alleviate overcrowding in shelters, reflecting our profound commitment to promoting animal welfare and reducing suffering on a broader scale. It’s a collaborative effort, with our team, colleagues from other hospitals, and volunteers from rescue partners coming together to make a tangible difference.

Our Passion Beyond Borders

Our dedication to animal care sometimes takes us on incredible journeys worldwide. For instance, our veterinary assistant, Alex, had an unforgettable experience volunteering at The Vervet Monkey Foundation in South Africa. This non-profit organization works to create a sanctuary where rehabilitated monkeys can live freely and safely. Alex’s work there included helping orphaned babies find new families, preparing meals, monitoring troops, assisting with minor medical treatments, and creating social media content to spread the foundation’s mission.

Each team member is driven by a deep-seated compassion for animals and a desire to make a tangible difference in their lives. We believe that every animal deserves a chance at a happy, healthy life, and we are committed to making that a reality.
