About Dr. Tomas
Dr. Tomas Infernuso, DVM, DACVS, is a board-certified veterinary surgeon, innovator, and advocate for the advancement of veterinary medicine. With expertise in minimally invasive procedures, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, and trauma care, Dr. Infernuso has dedicated his career to pioneering surgical techniques, improving access to high-quality veterinary care, and advocating for animal welfare on a global scale.
Dr. Infernuso’s international journey in veterinary medicine began at the University of Naples, Fredrick II School of Veterinary Medicine, followed by a one-year scholarship to the University of Madrid. He then completed his degree at Las Palmas University School of Veterinary Medicine in Spain.
After moving to the United States, Dr. Infernuso continued his studies at Cornell University, followed by an intensive one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. He completed his surgical residency training in 2010, achieving board certification through the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS).
In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Infernuso is deeply committed to rescue and rehabilitation efforts. He serves on the board of directors for Big Dog Ranch Rescue and New York City Second Chance Rescue, using his skills to provide life-saving surgical care for homeless and at-risk animals.

Additionally, Dr. Infernuso collaborates with global organizations to improve access to surgical care for homeless pets, ensuring that veterinary medicine reaches those who need it most. His passion for rescue work is also reflected in his personal life—he shares his home with four beloved rescue dogs, Chico, Coco, Dulce, and Lulu, each a testament to his unwavering dedication to giving animals a second chance.
