The Importance of Continuing Education

Continuing education goes beyond fulfilling a requirement; it’s about renewing our commitment to animal welfare. By attending conferences and workshops, veterinary professionals not only acquire new skills but also connect with leaders in the field. This knowledge ultimately translates to better patient outcomes, positively impacting the lives of animals and their families. For young veterinarians and licensed technicians, CE serves as a source of inspiration, offering a glimpse into the future they can help shape.

An Inspiring Experience: The American College of Veterinary Surgeons

One event that left a lasting impression on surgeon Dr. Tomas Infernuso was a course on minimally invasive procedures at the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Featuring presentations on advanced surgical techniques such as arthroscopic, laparoscopic, and thoracoscopic procedures, the conference inspired Dr. Infernuso to bring these innovative methods to the operating rooms of Animal Surgical Center. Reflecting on the experience, Dr. Infernuso said, “Events like these remind us of the depth and excitement of our profession.”

Knowledge Beyond Borders

Passion for education often opens doors to opportunities around the world. For Dr. Infernuso, this passion led to a remarkable experience in Beijing, where he spoke at Peking University on best practices in surgical oncology. Reflecting on this opportunity, he shared, “Sharing my knowledge and experience with peers was incredibly rewarding. Watching young veterinarians engage, ask questions, and share their perspectives reinforced why we do this.” Similarly, Dr. Jin is a strong advocate for continuing education. At ASC’s annual CE Night, he proudly shares insights on veterinary medicine and case studies, inspiring attendees with his dedication to advancing the field and fostering a culture of learning among his peers.

The New York Vet Show

Our team of technicians and assistants were thrilled to attend this year’s NY Vet Show, where they explored cutting-edge workshops on topics ranging from feline dentistry and compassionate palliative care to designing anesthesia plans and fostering career longevity. As essential players in veterinary care, attending events like the NY Vet Show provides incredible opportunities for growth and development. These experiences empower our team to become more knowledgeable and skilled, ultimately benefiting our patients.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Continuing education is essential not only for individual growth but also for elevating the veterinary field as a whole. It impacts the community, raises standards, advances quality medicine, and inspires others to do the same. By sharing our experiences, we hope to encourage young veterinary professionals to invest in their own education, aspire to new heights, and retain the passion that brought them into this field. At ASC, Dr. Kam plays a vital role in hosting our annual CE Night, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge-sharing and growth. He also regularly attends educational events to stay at the forefront of veterinary advancements. Through lifelong learning and collective dedication, we can elevate veterinary surgery and ensure every animal receives the best care possible.
